5 Things for Creators (that I Realized on My Solo Trip)
I booked a solo trip last minute last week and it was an experience I’d remember forever.
Here are the 5 things I realised (that’ll help you if you’re a creator):
1. Consistency is important for work (and breaks)
It’s beneficial for your mental and physical health to reward yourself every now & then.
2. There will always be pending work
I was supposed to create content and write my newsletter in advance. Everything was planned but last minute client work led me to prioritise them.
Not complaining but know this: There’s a 99% chance that you’d be leaving something behind so be okay with incompletion.
3. What matters more is the comeback
As I came back yesterday, I felt guilty, nervous and excited at the same time.
Why? I wanted to get back to work, create content and fully immerse myself in my tiny bubble of work-life-creation balance.
The only routine you can follow is a routine you like.
4. Embrace the chaos
The only reason I made a last minute plan was because I did not want to break my streak of travelling every month in 2024.
If my freelance career allows me that freedom, I better be cashing in on that privilege.
Trust me, you’d regret posting about freedom of a freelancer on social media if you’re not enjoying any.
5. Mix & Match
I only took a 1-hour meeting on this entire trip and did not even take my laptop with me.
But there have been times where I’ve worked for 6 days straight while I was on a trip.
Travel as much as you can but understand the difference between a workation and a real vacation.
Hope this helps!
