Signboards outside cafés are great for copy inspiration.

I do a lot of ad and creative inspiration research on Pinterest. And recently my feed has been filled with Café signboards.

These are like mini billboards put outside to attract attention. Some of them are too basic but others have great one liners that can serve as great inspiration.

Here are some of my favourites…

If you’re telling the truth with a little humour, you’re easier to like.

If you’re easier to like, people are more likely to buy from you.

If too many people talk shit, it’s a bad product.

If someone says something shitty, it’s a great angle for copy.

Good wordplay goes a long way.

Especially if it’s targeting a relatable truth for a common group.

In this case, coffee lovers.

Stating a fact is cool.

But making up a fact is hilarious.

Don’t say it’s a bar.

It’s a husband daycare centre so you can shop in peace.

Problem solved.

Good ideas are not just found in traditional sources like ads and campaigns.

At it’s bare minimum, good copy is good writing.

And you can find it anywhere so don’t stop looking.

So don’t shut your mind when you come across an unfamiliar resource.

And remember…

And yes, these signs are not the pillars of a great food business.

But it sure helps.

Because marketing is about staying top of mind.

And good writing is the rent you pay to stay at the top.

What do you think about these?
