How Losing a Client Made My Personal Life & Mental Health Better
June was different. Financially, it was not a great month because I lost a client & the recurring revenue that comes with it.
But it did wonders for my personal life and mental health.
Here’s the Other (wholesome) Side of Freelancing👇🏻
For me, building an online business isn’t a constant race of month-over-month targets.
Yes, I like chasing record revenues, high-value work, and great clients but not at the cost of my mental health & peace.
Happiness is the ultimate KPI.
Here’s why June was good👇🏻
1. Time & Freedom
With the client gone, I had less workload, which allowed me to spend some quality time with friends & family doing the things I love.
Plus, I dedicated more time to prospecting and finding new clients in new niches.
More time to find more work.
2. Content Creation
I did not miss a day of content creation & posting.
Plus, I did not just create good content but also consumed equally good content for 1 hour daily.
I did not miss a single learning time block in June (Mon-Fri), and I’m low-key proud of it.
3. Weekends
I usually work on Saturdays and keep the Sundays to myself (if there’s no pending work), but June was different.
I completed Saturday’s work during the week and kept the full weekend to myself.
2 fully free days were QUITE the break I needed.
4. Small Wins
→Watched 3 movies at the theatre (love that!)
→Maintained a min 4-day/week gym streak for all 4 weeks
→Said yes to random & impromptu plans without having to think twice
Reminder: Celebrate your small wins.
5. Finishing the day early
Even after my client work, gym, and personal content creation, I was left with enough time to sit with my family and watch something.
→A Movie
→YouTube
→A Web Series
While spending some quality time with them, post the daily grind.
All in all, here’s how June changed my mindset…
→It shifted my perspective to look for the silver lining, especially when things are not going your way.
→It helped me understand the importance of hustle, rest & indulgence and how to manage & balance all three.
This was a personal journal kinda thread that I’ve never really done before, but I hope you got some perspective on the other side of running a one-person business.
