Revealing a Gigantic MYTH about Content Marketing

It’s not just about content creation.

You can’t expect your magnificent creation just to go out and do its job.

Come out of the fairy world.

I’m sure good content finds its way to the heart of your audiences, but not without a proper plan.

Uncle Ben from Spiderman said, “With Great Power comes Great Responsibility.”

The same is true when you produce that sweet…sweet content.

If you’ve managed to produce a true masterpiece, you owe it to the Good Content Society (which I just made up!) to ensure it’s done properly.

Here are the 5 steps to make content that meets your expectations:

𝟭. 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴

Yeah…yeah, it’s unsexy work but so important.

Until you know the direction you’re aiming for, your content arrow can land anywhere, and you’d not know whether to be happy or miserable about it.

That’s what a plan prevents you from.

Always have a plan, even if it’s scribbled on the last page of your work notebook.

𝟮. 𝗚𝗼𝗮𝗹 𝘀𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴

This is like you whispering to yourself, “If your content is so good, prove it.”

My friend, it’s nothing to take on the ego, but your content needs to prove its mettle.

Set some targets and try to achieve them. If you can’t, you need to put your money where your mouth is and get back to the drawing board.

𝟯. 𝗔𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗮𝗹 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻

This is the main stage. The point where you combine your plan and goal setting, mold it into a strategy, and start creating content.

The big juicy part is remarkable. For sure, but don’t start without micro plans even for that.

𝘞𝘳𝘪𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘢 𝘣𝘭𝘰𝘨? 𝘚𝘵𝘢𝘳𝘵 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘢𝘯 𝘰𝘶𝘵𝘭𝘪𝘯𝘦
𝘔𝘢𝘬𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘢 𝘷𝘪𝘥𝘦𝘰? 𝘚𝘵𝘢𝘳𝘵 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘴𝘤𝘳𝘪𝘱𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨

It sucks to start from zero, so don’t.

𝟰. 𝗠𝗲𝗮𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴

This is a reality check. Has your content proved itself or not?

That’s decided here.

Double down on what worked and eliminate what didn’t. It’s literally as simple as that but remember, what doesn’t get measured doesn’t get improved.

𝟱. 𝗜𝗺𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴

This is the good part, but you can’t skip to it. This isn’t Instagram reels.

It’s real-life, and it can only improve when it has taken the journey from the first stage to the fifth stage.

Focus on the first four, and fifth will be effortless.

What did I miss? What would you add, fellow content marketers?

Let me know in the comments!
